After more than 20 years away journalist Julius Strauss returns to Kosovo with his filmmaker daughter Emma to meet Besnik, a boy who survived a terrible massacre.

In September 1998, as the Kosovo war is raging, British journalist Julius Strauss meets five-year-old Besnik Deliu, who has just survived a massacre that killed 23 members of his family.

Julius develops a bond with Besnik, and visits him regularly bringing food, toys and a child psychologist. He buys him a bicycle.

More than 20 years later they have lost touch and Julius is living in the Canadian wilderness, where he fled looking for peace after years reporting from the world’s frontlines.

He receives a message from Besnik asking to meet again.

Julius returns to Kosovo and they visit the scene of the massacre where they finally learn the full truth about what happened on that terrible day. Return to Kosovo was co-directed by Emma Strauss, a filmmaker and journalist based in Berlin, Julius Strauss, a former war correspondent, Donald Harding, a London-based producer, and Ben Harding, who is a UK-based director and often works for the BBC. Leman Muriqi is the Kosovo-based executive producer of this film.

The Q&A will be hosted by journalist and Frontline Founder Vaughan Smith.
